When we write, the speed of our thoughts slows down. We are therefore, able to identify better how we feel, why we feel like that and begin to clear our mind in order to know what to do next.

Writing has also helped us throughout history, thanks to it we have knowledge of the past and what others have learnt we then can use for progress. Mistakes that our ancestors made do not need to be repeated, because thanks to passing knowledge and learning through, we better know how to navigate life.

And handwriting has very positive impact on our brain, it increases neural activity. That is why it is so useful to write when we are studying or when we need to memorize something new.

Since writing helps us process, progress and learn, it ultimately makes our brains more creative, therefore on this season of stationary items purchases, we wanted to highlight the importance of writing, and motivate your creativity by remembering some great quotes from this diverse type of writers:

These quotes of Amy Winehouse, Einstein, Freud and Kafka will definitely inspire you

Amy Winehouse:

‘Writing is a very natural process for me. I wait for when I’ve been through some horrible thing and there’s nothing I can do but write about it. I follow my heart because otherwise you get so caught up in other peoples opinions. Not that I’m any great authority! I’m a fucking idiot like the rest of the world, but I trust my instincts, and that’s what has got me where I am, y’know?’

Amy, A5 Lined Notebook • Black spiral

Einstein:

“There comes a point in your life when you need to stop reading other people’s books and write your own.”

Einstein, A5 Lined Notebook • Black spiral

Freud:

“Words have a magical power. They can bring either the greatest happiness or deepest despair; they can transfer knowledge from teacher to student; words enable the orator to sway his audience and dictate its decisions. Words are capable of arousing the strongest emotions and prompting all men’s actions.”

Freud, Dot Notepad • Black spiral

Kafka:

“I wanted to escape the unrest, to shut out the voices around me and within me, so I write.”

Kafka, A5 Gridded Notebook • Black spiral
